「アバヤ王子は、かくも大いなる神通力と威力をそなえた沙門ゴータマの説を論破したのだ」と。
「しかし尊師よ、いかにして私は、かくも大いなる神通力と威力をそなえた沙門ゴータマの説を論破できましょうか」
「さあ王子よ、沙門ゴータマのもとへ赴くがよい。赴いて、沙門ゴータマにこのように申すのだ。『尊師よ、如来（タターガタ）は、他の人々に好まれず、心に適わぬ言葉を語ることがありましょうか』と。もしそなたの問いに対して、沙門ゴータマがこのように答えるならば——『王子よ、如来は、他の人々に好まれず、心に適わぬ言葉を語ることもある』と——そのときはこのように申すがよい。『しからば尊師よ、あなたと凡夫（ぼんぷ）とのあいだに、いかなる違いがありましょうか』と」。
「かしこまりました、尊師よ」とアバヤは答えた。
そして座より立ち上がり、ジャイナ教徒ニャーティカ（ナータプッタ）に礼拝し、右繞（うにょう）して、その場を辞した。
