「よろしい、比丘たちよ。汝らは、まさにこの法（ダンマ）によって、私に導かれてきた。この法とは、現世において自ら見て知られるもの（サンディッティカ）、時を超えて直ちに結果をもたらすもの（アカーリカ）、来たりて見よと招くもの（エーヒパッシカ）、涅槃へと向かわしめるもの（オーパネッイカ）、そして智慧ある者がそれぞれ自らにおいて知るべきもの（パッチャッタン・ウェーディタッボ・ウィンニューヒ）である。
かくして、この法は現世において自ら見て知られ、時を超えて直ちに結果をもたらし、来たりて見よと招き、涅槃へと向かわしめ、智慧ある者がそれぞれ自らにおいて知るべきものである——と私が説いたのは、まさにこのことを指して説いたのである。
さて、比丘たちよ、三つのものが和合するとき、母胎への入胎（ガッバッサーワッカンティ）が起こる。ここに、父母が和合し、しかも母が排卵期（ウトゥニー）にあらず、またガンダッバ（gandhabba）も現れていないならば、入胎はいまだ起こらない。また、ここに父母が和合し……」
