「智慧においても、私にはラーマと同じものが備わっている。『友よ、私はこの法と律（ダンマ・ヴィナヤ）において梵行（ぼんぎょう）を修めたいと思う』と。ならば私は、ラーマが自ら直接知（abhiññā・アビンニャー）によって証得し、達成して住していると宣言したその法を、自ら証得するために精進しようではないか」と。
アッギヴェッサナよ、私はほどなくして、まさしくその法を、自ら直接知によって証得し、達成して住したのである。
そこで私は、ウッダカ・ラーマプッタのもとへ赴き、彼にこう告げた。
「友よ、ラーマはこの法を、まさしくここまで自ら直接知によって証得し、達成して住していると宣言されたのでしょうか」
「そのとおりです、友よ」と。
