Removing and giving up desire and greed for sensual pleasures: this is the escape from sensual pleasures. There are ascetics and brahmins who don’t truly understand sensual pleasures’ gratification, drawback, and escape in this way for what they are. It’s impossible for them to completely understand sensual pleasures themselves, or to instruct another so that, practicing accordingly, they will completely understand sensual pleasures. 欲楽に対する欲と貪りを除き去り、捨て離れること——これが欲楽からの出離である。かくのごとく、欲楽の味わい、患い、および出離を、あるがままに真実として了知せざる沙門・婆羅門がいる。彼らが自ら欲楽を究尽することは不可能であり、また他者に教示して、その者が法に従い修行することによって欲楽を究尽せしめることも、また不可能である。かくのごとく、欲楽の味わい、患い、および出離を、あるがままに真実として了知する沙門・婆羅門がいる。
