“… the sentient beings who die as ghosts and are reborn as gods are few, while those who die as ghosts and are reborn in the ghost realm are many. Why is that? It’s because they haven’t seen the four noble truths. What four? The noble truths of suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering. 死して餓鬼より天界に生まれ変わる衆生は少なく、死して餓鬼より再び餓鬼道に生まれ変わる衆生は多い。何ゆえであるか。それは、四聖諦を見ていないからである。いかなる四つか。苦聖諦、苦集聖諦、苦滅聖諦、苦滅道聖諦である。それゆえに、「これが苦である」と……「これが苦の集（起源）である」と……「これが苦の滅である」と……理解するために、瞑想修行に励むべきである。
