“Mendicants, suppose a person was to place seven pebbles the size of mustard seeds on the Himalayas, the king of mountains. What do you think, mendicants? Which is more: the seven pebbles the size of mustard seeds, or the Himalayas, the king of mountains?” “Sir, the Himalayas, the king of mountains, is certainly more. 「比丘たちよ、たとえばある人が、山々の王たるヒマラヤ山脈の上に、芥子粒ほどの大きさの小石を七つ置いたとしよう。比丘たちよ、どう思うか。芥子粒ほどの七つの小石と、山々の王たるヒマラヤ山脈とでは、いずれが多いか」「世尊よ、山々の王たるヒマラヤ山脈のほうが、はるかに多うございます。芥子粒ほどの七つの小石はあまりにも僅少にして、ヒマラヤ山脈と比べるならば、数えるにも値せず、比較にもならず、その幾分の一にも及びませぬ」「同じように、聖なる真理を悟れる者にとっては――」
