At Kapilavatthu. Seated to one side, the Buddha said to Nandiya the Sakyan: “Nandiya, a noble disciple who has four things is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, destined for awakening. カピラヴァットゥにて。釈尊はナンディヤ・サキャ族の者の傍らに座し、次のように仰せになった。
「ナンディヤよ、四つのものを具えた聖なる弟子は、預流者となり、悪趣に堕することなく、覚りへと定まった者となる。その四つとは何か。聖なる弟子が仏に対して体験に基づく浄信を有すること……法に対して……僧伽に対して……そして、聖者たちに愛でられ、禅定へと導く戒を有すること。ナンディヤよ、この四つのものを具えた聖なる弟子は、預流者となり、悪趣に堕することなく、覚りへと定まった者となるのである。」
