At one time Venerable Godatta was staying near Macchikāsaṇḍa in the Wild Mango Grove. Then Citta the householder went up to Venerable Godatta, bowed, and sat down to one side. Godatta said to him: “Householder, the limitless release of the heart, and the release of the heart through nothingness, and the release of the heart through emptiness, and the signless release of the heart: do these things differ in both meaning and phrasing? Or do they mean the same thing, and differ only in the phrasing
あるとき、尊者ゴーダッタはマッチカーサンダの近く、野生の芒果樹林に滞在しておられた。そこへ、居士チッタが尊者ゴーダッタのもとへ参り、礼拝して、かたわらに座した。ゴーダッタはかれに向かってこう言われた。「居士よ、無量心解脱と、無所有心解脱と、空心解脱と、無相心解脱と——これらの法は、意味においても文言においても異なるものでありましょうか。それとも、意味は同一にして、ただ文言のみが異なるものでありましょうか。」
