So I have heard. “Yes, lord,” replied the gods. At one time the Buddha was staying in the land of the Magadhans, where east of Rājagaha there is a brahmin village named Ambasaṇḍā, north of which, on Mount Vediyaka, is Indra’s hill cave. Now at that time Sakka, the lord of gods, grew eager to see the Buddha. He thought, “Where is the Blessed One at present, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha?” Seeing that the Buddha was at Indra’s hill cave, he addressed the gods of the thirty-three, “G
このように私は聞いた。
「はい、尊者よ」と、三十三天（とうりてん）の神々は帝釈天（たいしゃくてん）の言葉に従った。
あるとき、世尊はマガダ国におられた。ラージャガハの東方に、アンバサンダーという名のバラモンの村があり、その北、ヴェーディヤカ山の中腹に、インダサーラの岩窟があった。
そのころ、神々の王・帝釈天（サッカ）の心に、世尊にお目にかかりたいという切なる思いが生じた。帝釈天はこう思った。
「いま、世尊――応供（おうぐ）にして正等覚者（しょうとうかくしゃ）たる仏陀――は、いずこにましますのであろうか」
帝釈天は、世尊がマガダ国のインダサーラの岩窟にましますのを見て取り、三十三天の神々に向かってこう告げた。
「諸天よ――」
