“Mendicants, there are five things that are hard to get for ladies who have not made merit. This is the fourth thing. ‘Having been born in a suitable family, and married into a suitable family, and living at home without a co-wife, and having had children, may I live having mastered my husband!’ This is the fifth thing. 比丘たちよ、功徳を積まざる女人にとって、得難き五つのことがある。
第一のことはこれである。「願わくば、わが身は由緒ある家に生まれんことを。」これが第一のことである。
「由緒ある家に生まれ、由緒ある家に嫁ぎ、家において側室なく暮らし、子をもうけ、願わくば夫を掌中に収めて生きんことを。」これが第五のことである。
これらが、功徳を積まざる女人にとって得難き五つのことである。いかなる五つか。「願わくば、わが身は由緒ある家に生まれんことを。」これが第一のことである。
