比丘・比丘尼たちよ、眼によって識られる諸々の色に関して、いまだ貪・瞋・癡を滅し尽くしておらず、これらを捨離していない比丘あるいは比丘尼がいるとせよ。たとえ些細なる色がその見聞の範囲に入り来たるときでさえ、その心は圧倒されてしまう。まして強く心を引く色においては、なおさらのことである。何ゆえにそうなるのか。それは彼らがいまだ貪・瞋・癡を滅し尽くしておらず、これらを捨離していないからである。同じく、眼によって識られる諸々の色に関して、すでに貪・瞋・癡を残すところなく滅し尽くし、これらを捨離したる比丘あるいは比丘尼がいるとせよ。
