「比丘たちよ、信仰によらず、賛同によらず、口伝によらず、推論の連鎖によらず、また熟慮の末に受け入れた見解によらずして、一人の比丘が自らの覚りを宣言しうる方法があるであろうか。すなわち、『我はかく了知せり——「再生は尽き、梵行は完成し、なすべきことはすでになされ、もはやこの境地において来たるべきものは何もなし」と』と。」
