「比丘たちよ、色（しき）は無我である。無我なるものによって生じた想念が、いかにして我（が）たり得ようか。これを見て……幻滅するとき、欲（よく）は色褪せて消えゆく。欲が消え去るとき、解脱（げだつ）が訪れる。解脱するとき、彼らは己が解脱せしことを知る。そして彼らはこのように了解する。『生（しょう）は尽き、梵行（ぼんぎょう）は完成し、なすべきことはなし遂げられた。もはやこの境涯において、さらになすべきことは何もない』と。」色が生起する因（いん）と縁（えん）もまた無我である。無我なるものによって色は生じるのであるから……
