“Saṁyojaniye ca, bhikkhave, dhamme desessāmi saṁyojanañca. Yo tattha chandarāgo taṁ tattha saṁyojanan”ti. Taṁ suṇātha. Katame ca, bhikkhave, saṁyojaniyā dhammā, katamañca saṁyojanaṁ? Santi, bhikkhave, cakkhuviññeyyā rūpā iṭṭhā kantā manāpā piyarūpā kāmūpasaṁhitā rajanīyā. Ime vuccanti, bhikkhave, saṁyojaniyā dhammā. And what is the fetter? There are sights known by the eye, which are likable, desirable, agreeable, pleasant, sensual, and arousing. These are called the things that tighten the fetters. 比丘たちよ、我は汝らに結縛を生ずるものと、結縛そのものとを説かん。これに対する欲貪こそが結縛である。 諦聴せよ……結縛を生ずるものとは何か。また、結縛とは何か。 眼によって識られる色がある――好ましく、望ましく、意に適い、快く、欲情を伴い、心を引き寄せるものである。これらを結縛を生ずるものと称する。これらに対する欲貪が結縛である。 耳によって識られる声がある……鼻によって識られる香がある……舌によって識られる味がある……身によって識られる触がある……意によって識られる法がある――
