“Mendicants, there are sights known by the eye, which are likable, desirable, agreeable, pleasant, sensual, and arousing. If a mendicant approves, welcomes, and keeps clinging to them, they’re called a mendicant trapped in Māra’s lair, fallen under Māra’s sway, and caught in Māra’s snare. 比丘たちよ、眼によって認識される色がある。それは好ましく、望ましく、快く、楽しく、官能的であり、心を惹きつけるものである。もし比丘がそれらを喜び、歓迎し、執着し続けるならば、その者はマーラの住処に囚われ、マーラの支配のもとに堕し、マーラの罠にかかった比丘と呼ばれる。その者はマーラの縛りによって束縛され、悪魔はその者を意のままにすることができる。声についても……香についても……味についても……触についても同様である……心によって認識される法がある。それは好ましく、望ましく、快く、楽しく……
