“Mendicants, consciousness originates dependent on a duality. The meeting, coming together, and joining together of these three things is called eye contact. Eye contact is also impermanent, decaying, and perishing. And the causes and reasons that give rise to eye contact are also impermanent, decaying, and perishing. But since eye contact has arisen dependent on conditions that are impermanent, how could it be permanent? Contacted one feels; contacted one intends; contacted one perceives. So th
比丘たちよ、識は二つのものに依って生起する。これら三つのものが出会い、会合し、和合することを、眼触と名づける。眼触もまた無常にして、衰滅し、滅没するものである。そして眼触を生起せしめる因と縁もまた、無常にして、衰滅し、滅没するものである。しかるに、無常なる条件に依って生起した眼触が、いかにして常住たりえようか。触れることによって感受し、触れることによって思念し、触れることによって想念する。かくのごとく——
