At Sāvatthī. Then the wanderer Vacchagotta said to the Buddha: “What is the cause, worthy Gotama, what is the reason why these various misconceptions arise in the world? …” “Vaccha, it is because of not knowing perception, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation …”
サーヴァッティーにて。そのとき、遍歴行者ヴァッチャゴッタは仏陀に向かいてかく申し上げた。「尊き方ゴータマよ、いかなる因、いかなる縁によりて、これら種々の邪見は世に生ずるのでありましょうか……」「ヴァッチャよ、それは想（サンニャー）を知らず、その生起を知らず、その滅尽を知らず、またその滅尽へと導く道を知らぬがゆえのことである……」
