舎衛城にて。
「比丘たちよ、我は汝らに、結縛を生ぜしめるものと、結縛そのものとを説かん。よく聴くがよい……
結縛を生ぜしめるものとは何か。また、結縛とは何か。
色（しき）は、結縛を生ぜしめるものなり。それに対する欲貪（よくとん）こそが、結縛なり。受（じゅ）もまた、結縛を生ぜしめるものなり。想（そう）もまた、結縛を生ぜしめるものなり。行（ぎょう）もまた、結縛を生ぜしめるものなり。識（しき）は、結縛を生ぜしめるものなり。それに対する欲貪こそが、結縛なり。
これらを、結縛を生ぜしめるものと名づけ、これを結縛と名づくるなり。」
