At one time several senior mendicants were staying near Kosambī, in Ghosita’s Monastery. “Reverend, I’m not keeping well, I’m not getting by. My pain is terrible and growing, not fading; its growing is evident, not its fading.” Now at that time Venerable Khemaka was staying in the Jujube Tree Monastery, and he was sick, suffering, gravely ill. 時に、幾人かの長老比丘たちが、コーサンビーのゴーシタ園精舎に滞在しておられた。「尊者よ、私は身体の具合が優れず、苦しみに堪えられません。痛みは激しく増すばかりで、一向に和らぐ気配がありません。増すことは明らかであれど、癒えることは見えません。」
そのころ、尊者ケーマカは棗樹園精舎に滞在されており、病を患い、苦しみ、重篤の状態にあられた。日暮れ近く、長老比丘たちは禅定より出られ、尊者ダーサカに告げられた。「尊者ダーサカよ、どうか比丘ケーマカのもとへ赴いてください。」
