At one time the Buddha was staying near Sāvatthī. Then the Buddha said to Venerable Sāriputta, “Sāriputta, this was said in ‘The Way to the Far Shore’, in ‘The Questions of Ajita’: This is how I understand the detailed meaning of what was said in brief.” “Good, good, Sāriputta!” (The Buddha repeated all of Sāriputta’s explanation, concluding:) This is how to understand the detailed meaning of what was said in brief.” ‘There are those who have appraised the teaching, and many kinds of trainees he
かつて、仏陀はサーヴァッティーの近くに滞在しておられた。そのとき、仏陀は尊者サーリプッタに仰せられた。「サーリプッタよ、『彼岸への道』の『アジタの問い』において説かれたことがある。私はその略説の詳細なる意義を、かくのごとく解するものである。」「善きかな、善きかな、サーリプッタよ。」（仏陀はサーリプッタの解説をすべて繰り返し、次のように締めくくられた。）「これこそ、略説として説かれたことの詳細なる意義を解すべき道である。」「法を審察したる者たちがあり、また多くの種類の学人たちがいる。
