“Kaṇhamaggañca vo, bhikkhave, desessāmi sukkamaggañca. katamo ca, bhikkhave, kaṇho maggo? Pāṇātipāto …pe… micchādiṭṭhi— ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, kaṇho maggo. Katamo ca, bhikkhave, sukko maggo? Pāṇātipātā veramaṇī …pe… sammādiṭṭhi— ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, sukko maggo”ti.
“I will teach you the dark path and the bright path. … And what is the dark path? Killing living creatures … wrong view. This is called the dark path. And what is the bright path? Not killing living creatures … right view. This is called the bright path.”
「我は汝らに、暗の道と明の道を説かん。……では、暗の道とは何か。生きとし生けるものを殺すこと……邪見。これを暗の道と呼ぶ。では、明の道とは何か。生きとし生けるものを殺さぬこと……正見。これを明の道と呼ぶ。」
