“Mendicants, doctors prescribe an emetic for eliminating illnesses stemming from disorders of bile, phlegm, and wind. There is such an emetic, I don’t deny it. But this kind of emetic sometimes works and sometimes fails. I will teach a noble emetic that works without fail. Relying on that emetic, sentient beings who are liable to rebirth, old age, and death, to sorrow, lamentation, pain, sadness, and distress are freed from all these things. 「比丘たちよ、医師たちは、胆汁・痰・風の乱れより生ずる諸病を除くために催吐剤を処方する。かかる催吐剤の存在を、余は否定するものではない。しかしながら、この種の催吐剤は、効験あることもあれば、効験なきこともある。余は今、必ずや効験をもたらす、尊き催吐剤を説き示さん。その催吐剤に依ることによって、再生・老・死、悲・嘆・苦・憂・悩に縛られたる衆生は、これらすべてのものより解脱するであろう。よく聴き、心して念ずるがよい、余はこれより説くであろう。……而して……」
