「尊師よ、人々は『僧伽の和合』と申しますが、僧伽の和合とはいかなるものと定義されるのでしょうか。」
「ウパーリよ、それは比丘が、法にあらざるものを法にあらずと説き、法たるものを法なりと説く時のことである。律にあらざるものを律にあらずと説き、律たるものを律なりと説く。如来によって説かれ示されなかったものを、如来によって説かれ示されなかったものとして説き、如来によって説かれ示されたものを、如来によって説かれ示されたものとして説く。
