“Mendicants, there are these nine progressive cessations. For someone who has attained the dimension of neither perception nor non-perception, the perception of the dimension of nothingness has ceased. For someone who has attained the cessation of perception and feeling, perception and feeling have ceased. These are the nine progressive cessations.” What nine? 比丘たちよ、九つの順次滅尽というものがある。
その九とは何か。
初禅を証得した者には、欲界の想が滅尽する。第二禅を証得した者には、尋と伺が滅尽する。第三禅を証得した者には、喜が滅尽する。第四禅を証得した者には、入息と出息が滅尽する。空無辺処を証得した者には、色想が滅尽する。識無辺処を証得した者には、空無辺処の想が滅尽する。無所有処を証得した者には、識無辺処の想が滅尽する。非想非非想処を証得した者には、無所有処の想が滅尽する。想受滅を証得した者には、想と受が滅尽する。
比丘たちよ、これらが九つの順次滅尽である。
