“Mendicants, ‘danger’ is a term for sensual pleasures. Someone who is besotted by sensual greed and shackled by lustful desire is not freed from dangers in this life or in lives to come. That is why ‘danger’ is a term for sensual pleasures. And why are ‘suffering’, ‘disease’, ‘boil’, ‘dart’, ‘chain’, ‘bog’, and ‘womb’ terms for sensual pleasures? Someone who is besotted by sensual greed and shackled by lustful desire is not freed from wombs in this life or in lives to come. That is why ‘womb’ is
比丘たちよ、「危難」とは欲楽を指す言葉である。欲貪に溺れ、愛欲の縛りに繋がれた者は、現世においても来世においても、諸々の危難から解放されることはない。それゆえに、「危難」とは欲楽を指す言葉なのである。では、なぜ「苦」「病」「癰」「矢」「鎖」「泥濘」「胎」が欲楽を指す言葉であるのか。欲貪に溺れ、愛欲の縛りに繋がれた者は、現世においても来世においても、諸々の胎より解放されることはない。それゆえに、「胎」とは欲楽を指す言葉なのである。
