“Mendicants, I will teach you seven places people are reborn, and extinguishment by not grasping. Listen and apply your mind well, I will speak.” “Yes, sir,” the mendicants replied. 比丘たちよ、我は汝らに、衆生が生まれ変わる七つの境地と、執取なき涅槃について説かん。よく聴き、心して思念せよ。我は今より語らん」と。「唯然、世尊」と比丘たちは答えた。仏はかく説きたもうた。「では、衆生が生まれ変わる七つの境地とは何か。ここに一人の比丘あり、かくのごとく修行す。五下分結を断ずることによって、中有において般涅槃に入る者がいる。『あらざるべし、我がものにあらざるべし。あらざるべく、我がものにあらざるべし。我は今現に存するものを捨て去らん』と。
