比丘たちよ、六つの性質を持つ者は、正法を聴聞するといえども、善法に関して正定聚に入ることができない。その六つとは何か。業障、煩悩障、あるいは異熟障に覆われており、さらに信なく、精進なく、慧なき者である。これら六つの性質を持つ者は、正法を聴聞するといえども、善法に関して正定聚に入ることができない。六つの性質を持つ者は、善法に関して正定聚に入ることができる。
