So I have heard. At one time the Buddha was staying near Kimbilā in the Freshwater Mangrove Wood. 如是我聞。あるとき、世尊はキンビラーの近く、清水の林のほとりに滞在しておられた。そのとき、尊者キンビラーが世尊のもとに参じ、礼拝して一方に座し、世尊に申し上げた。「世尊よ、如来の般涅槃の後、正法が長く住せざるは、いかなる因、いかなる縁によるものでございましょうか。」「キンビラーよ、それは比丘・比丘尼・優婆塞・優婆夷たちが、師・法・僧伽・学処・精進・また接待のことに対して、敬意と恭敬の心を欠くときに生ずるのである。」
