At one time the Buddha was staying in the land of the Bhaggas at Crocodile’s Bellow, in the deer park at Bhesakaḷā’s Wood. あるとき、世尊はバッガ国のワニの咆哮するところ、ベーサカラーの森の鹿野苑に滞在しておられた。そのころ、長者ナクラの父は病を患い、苦しみ、重篤な状態にあった。そこで、長者の妻ナクラの母は夫にこう申した。「長者よ、憂いを抱いたまま世を去ってはなりません。そのような憂いは苦しみであり、世尊によって戒められております。長者よ、あなたはこのようにお思いかもしれません。『私が逝った後、妻ナクラの母は子供たちを養い、家を守ることができないだろう』と。
