“Mendicants, there are these five drawbacks to a charnel ground. What five? It’s filthy, stinking, frightening, a gathering place for savage monsters, and a weeping place for many people. These are the five drawbacks of a charnel ground. In the same way there are five drawbacks of an individual like a charnel ground. What five? To start with, an individual has filthy conduct by way of body, speech, and mind. This is how they’re filthy, I say. That individual is just as filthy as a charnel ground
比丘たちよ、塚間には五つの過患がある。いかなる五つか。塚間は不浄であり、悪臭を放ち、恐怖をもたらし、猛き魔物どもの集う場所であり、多くの人々が哭泣する場所である。これが塚間の五つの過患である。これと同様に、塚間のごとき人には五つの過患がある。いかなる五つか。まず、その人は身・口・意における行いが不浄である。これがその者の不浄たる所以であると、わたしは説く。かかる人は、塚間と等しく不浄なのである。
