“Mendicants, a nun with five qualities is placed in hell as if delivered there. What five? She is stingy with dwellings, families, material things, praise, and the teaching. A nun with these five qualities is placed in hell as if delivered there. A nun with five qualities is placed in heaven as if delivered there. What five? She is not stingy with dwellings, families, material things, praise, or the teaching. A nun with these five qualities is placed in heaven as if delivered there.”
「比丘尼たちよ、五つの性質を具えた比丘尼は、まるで連れ去られるかのごとく地獄に堕ちるのである。その五つとは何か。すなわち、住処に関して物惜しみし、家々に関して物惜しみし、財物に関して物惜しみし、称讃に関して物惜しみし、そして法に関して物惜しみすることである。これら五つの性質を具えた比丘尼は、まるで連れ去られるかのごとく地獄に堕ちるのである。また、五つの性質を具えた比丘尼は、まるで連れ去られるかのごとく天界に生まれるのである。その五つとは何か。すなわち、住処に関して物惜しみせず、家々に関して物惜しみせず、財物に関して物惜しみせず、称讃に関して物惜しみせず、そして法に関して物惜しみしないことである。これら五つの性質を具えた比丘尼は、まるで連れ去られるかのごとく天界に生まれるのである。」
