“Mendicants, these five future perils have not currently arisen, but they will arise in the future. You should look out for them and try to give them up. What five? and corrupt teachings come from corrupt training. This is the first future peril that has not currently arisen, but will arise in the future … In a future time there will be mendicants who have not developed their physical endurance, ethics, mind, and wisdom. They will ordain others, but be unable to guide them in the higher ethics,

「比丘たちよ、これら五つの未来の危難は、いまだ現れてはいないが、やがて未来において生じるであろう。汝らはこれらに対して注意を払い、これを捨断するよう努めなければならない。では、五つとは何か。堕落した修行より堕落した教法が生じるのである。これが第一の未来の危難であり、いまだ現れてはいないが、やがて未来において生じるであろう。……未来の時代において、身体的な堪忍を修め、戒・心・慧を修めていない比丘たちが現れるであろう。彼らは他の者を受戒させるであろうが、増上戒においてその者たちを導くことは叶わないであろう。
