Then Venerable Rāhula went up to the Buddha, bowed, and sat down to one side. The Buddha said to him: “Rāhula, the interior earth element and the exterior earth element are just the earth element. This should be truly seen with right understanding like this: ‘This is not mine, I am not this, this is not my self.’ When you truly see with right understanding, you grow disillusioned with the earth element, detaching the mind from the earth element. 時に、尊者ラーフラは世尊のもとに参じ、礼拝して、一傍らに坐した。世尊はかれに告げた。
「ラーフラよ、内なる地の界と外なる地の界とは、ただ地の界に他ならない。これを、『これはわが所有にあらず、われはこれにあらず、これはわが自我にあらず』と、正しき智慧をもって如実に見るべきである。正しき智慧をもって如実に見るとき、汝は地の界に対して厭離を生じ、心を地の界より離脱せしめるであろう。内なる水の界と外なる水の界とは——」
