There Sāriputta addressed the mendicants: “Reverends, mendicants!” “Reverend,” they replied. 彼の地にて、舎利弗尊者は比丘たちに呼びかけられた。「尊き友よ、比丘たちよ。」「尊き友よ」と彼らは答えた。舎利弗尊者はかく説かれた。「尊き友よ、いかなる比丘・比丘尼であれ、自らの内に四つのことを見出すならば、かくのごとく結論すべきである。『わが善法は衰退しつつある。これこそ世尊が衰退と呼ばれるものである』と。いかなる四つか。その者は貪りが深く、瞋恚が深く、愚痴が深い。そして、その慧眼は多くの甚深なる事柄を貫き見ることができない。いかなる比丘・比丘尼であれ、自らの内にこの四つのことを見出すならば、かくのごとく結論すべきである。『わが善法は衰退しつつある』と。
