“When a foolish, incompetent untrue person has four qualities they keep themselves broken and damaged. They deserve to be blamed and criticized by sensible people, and they brim with much wickedness. What four? Without examining or scrutinizing, they praise those deserving of criticism, and they criticize those deserving of praise. 四つの性質を備えた愚かで無能なる不誠実な人は、自らを傷つけ損なうことになる。かかる者は、賢明なる人々より非難と叱責を受けるに値し、多くの悪をその身に満たすこととなる。では、その四つとは何か。彼らは、よく観察し吟味することなく、批判されるべき者を称賛し、称賛されるべき者を批判する。疑わしきものに対して信心を起こし、信頼に値する清浄なるものに対しては信心を起こさない。愚かで無能なる不誠実な人が、これら四つの性質を具えるならば——
