“Mendicants, an unlearned ordinary person speaks of three perils that tear mothers and children apart. What three? There comes a time when a great fire flares up, and it burns villages, towns, and cities. When this happens, a mother can’t find her child, and a child can’t find their mother. This is the first peril that tears mothers and children apart. 比丘たちよ、無聞の凡夫は、母と子を引き裂く三つの災厄を説く。その三つとは何か。
まず、大火が燃え上がる時が来る。その炎は村落、町、都市を焼き尽くす。かかる時には、母は子を見つけることができず、子は母を見つけることができない。これが、母と子を引き裂く第一の災厄である。
母と子を引き裂かない三つの災厄を捨て去り、超え越えるに導く道と修行がある。
