At one time the Buddha was staying in the land of the Kosalans in a certain forest grove. Now at that time one of the brahmins of the Bhāradvāja clan had lost fourteen oxen. While looking for them he went to that forest grove, where he saw the Buddha sitting down cross-legged, his body set straight, and mindfulness established in his presence. He went up to the Buddha, and recited these verses in the Buddha’s presence: You’re right, brahmin, I don’t have a field of sesame ruined, with just one o
時に、世尊はコーサラ国のある森の林苑に滞在されておられた。その頃、バーラドヴァージャ族のあるバラモンが十四頭の牛を失った。それらを探し求めながら、彼はその森の林苑へと赴いた。そこで彼は、世尊が結跏趺坐し、身を端正に正しくして、現前に念を確立して坐しておられる姿を目にした。彼は世尊のもとへと近づき、世尊の御前にてこれらの偈を唱えた。「その通りです、バラモンよ。私には、たった一夜にして…」と。
