One is indeed the lord of oneself, for who else would be one’s lord? By means of a well-tamed self, one gains a lord that’s rare indeed.
実に自己こそが自己の主（あるじ）である。他に誰が主たり得ようか。よく調御（ちょうご）された自己によってこそ、人は得難き主を得るのである。
